March 2025 Case Update
Dear family, friends and all our supporters
Our case hearing will start on 21 July - in just 16 weeks! We have been very busy pulling documents together and doing the huge amount of work required to prepare for a legal hearing of four weeks. The extreme length is unfortunately necessitated by Wellington Pride having called 19 expert witnesses to whom we have to respond.
Our legal costs to date are $52,000 of which we have paid $20,000. Our next bill will be coming in May, and in order to have a head start we want to raise $NZ50,000 by Easter (21 April). That’s $US28,600 and £22,100 for our US and UK supporters respectively.
It is a great deal of money when you look at it as one lump sum, especially as we have a population of only 5 million in New Zealand. However, if you break it down it’s suddenly much more manageable.
Alternatively you can make a regular weekly or monthly donation directly into
our bank account: 06 0730 0417676 50
Every dollar donated brings us closer to our target. Please give what you can.
And please share this message with your family, friends and social media followers.

The LAVA case against Wellington Pride is the most important case pertaining to the rights of same-sex attracted New Zealanders since the Homosexual Law Reform Act 1986 and the Human Rights Act 1993.
Once again we are having to fight to be accepted for who we are – same sex attracted women. This time however we have an additional issue: that of our right to have our opinions respected as reasonable rather than be labelled as bigoted, hateful and harmful.
Just in case you’ve forgotten, the opinions we hold, which Wellington Pride and its expert witnesses have alleged are not worthy of legal protection because they are bigoted, hateful and harmful, are that people can’t change sex, lesbians (and gay men) are same sex attracted and that there are times when sex (as in biology) matters.
